Who and why: Roots4Change invites providers, researchers, and institutional leaders whose decisions impact care to experience a community-led project through the eyes of immigrant, Latina, and Indigenous women as they share their experiences within the confines of healthcare systems. Participants will witness a decolonizing, participatory research model that invites empathy, confronts personal and structural biases, and activates accountability through the deconstruction of the “other.”
What is Jardines de Espacios? Led by Roots4Change in partnership with Public Health Madison Dane County and the UW School of Human Ecology, Jardines de Espacios is a community-based participatory research project using photovoice to make visible the realities of immigrant and Latino families. Their analysis has uncovered powerful insights into what it means to navigate healthcare as immigrant and Latina women—and as providers and researchers working within these systems.
